background:
An increase in the need of computer usage for urinalysis, one of the major clinical laboratory screening and diagnostic tests, made us develop a urinalysis management program based on serial interface between personal computer and Ames(r)
clinjitek(r) reagent strip autoanalyzer
Methods:
Hardwares(a 486 PC, a dot matrix printer and a null modem cable), soft wares(FoxPro for main development, InterComm for interface and Hanmac for Korean language BIOS) and newly designed final report form paper were used to develop the program,
and a
year was needed to test and upgrade the program.
Results:
The program to prepare work, interface, input results, control quality, backup result data and perform various query was developed and continuously upgraded.
Conclusion:
This program was a good tool to make it possible to perform urinalysis more effectively with low cost.
